The Book of Common Prayer(BCP) Communion Service takes place Every Sunday at 8am at All Saints
There is also a Book of Common Prayer Evening Prayer Service on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 5pm at All Saints
The 8am service lasts about 40 minutes
The 5pm service lasts about 1 hour
The 1662 Book of Common Prayer is a permanent feature of the Church of England's worship. It is loved for the beauty of its language and it is
the foundation of a tradition of common prayer and a key source of the Church of England's doctrine. It is perhaps most recognised by the wording it gives to the marriage service:
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this congregation, to join together this Man and this Woman in holy Matrimony..."
that is echoed out of Directors' studios across Hollywood.
However in terms of a style for Sunday worship, the 1662 BCP gives a traditional Holy Communion service, and many people who attend do so because they enjoy listening to the "old" words as it gives a feeling of tradition and, especially in today's climate, a feeling
of continuity. If you would like to find out more about the style of the Book of Common Prayer, why not come along to a service and see what you think. The type of worship people prefer is a personal thing and only you can tell, whether
you will enjoy the service after trying it out for yourself!
Remember if you don't enjoy it you can always try a different kind of service!

The Experimental service takes place on every 5th Sunday at 5pm at All Saints.
This service lasts about 55 minutes
As the name suggests there isn't a set format as to what will occur.
However in the past they have included things like a Taize - (a simple form of ecumenical Christian prayer centred on Scripture, Silence, and Song, inspired by the monastic tradition in Taize, France),
open air services, and sessions of modern worship. Due to the nature of these services it is hard to explain precisely what they entail, except to say that they offer a chance to experience a form
of worship that is very different.
If you are interested in attending an experimental service, please keep an eye on the site, where we will inform you of the date and format of the next experimental service.
Remember if you don't enjoy it you can always try a different kind of service!

There are several services throught the month that have been designed specifically with families in mind. These take place on:
The 1st Sunday of the month at 10am at Christ Church and at 5pm at All Saints
The 4th Sunday of the month at 10am at Christ Church. This service is also a Holy Communion Service
This service lasts about 1 hour
Because these services are designed to get children involved in what they are seeing, they often use interactive sermons and tend to have a larger amount of modern worship music, as opposed to the traditional hymns.
And all the words to the modern songs are projected onto a screen at the front of the church, so you don't miss the song because you can't find the number in the hymn book!
If you have not attended church before the Family Service is a good place to start, because it is aimed at everyone, and it really gives you the chance to see a little of everything, particularly if you
come to the service on the 4th Sunday, when there is Communion too.
If you have very young children and are worried about the service being too long, or crying interupting the service, there is no need. The family service, is exactly that! And a few tears along the way are expected!
But if you are worried about feeling uncomfortable there is a vestry at the back of Christ Church that is carpeted, and has books and toys and paper available, so if it all just gets too much there is a safe haven! There are also toilet facilities
available in the church hall next door (just ask a sideperson or warden).
Whilst there is no vestry at All Saints there is a carpeted area with toys available at the back of the church. And there are disabled toilet facilities in All Saints.

Holy Communion takes place at various times of the day throughout the month:
The 2nd Sunday of the month at 10am at Christ Church
The 3rd Sunday of the month at 5pm at All Saints
The 4th Sunday of the month at 10am at Christ Church. This service is also a family service.
And don't forget you can attend the 1662 Communion service every Sunday at 8am at All Saints!
This service lasts about 1 hour
Holy Communion is possibly the most widely recognised service in the Church of England, because it involves people taking Communion (the Bread and wine that symbolises the body and blood of Chirst).
However just because you attend this service it does not mean you must take communion, or that you cannot attend if you have not been confirmed. If you haven't been confirmed you can either stay sitting in the pew
when people go up for Communion, or you can go up and receive a blessing (all you have to do is keep you arms at your side). And don't worry, you don't need to remember all of this, if you forget what to do
you can always ask one of the sidespersons (the people who tell you when to go up for communion) in the service. Also if you have not been confirmed within the Church of England, but are able to recieve communion in your own church
then you are more than welcome to participate with us.
If you would like to find out more about how the Holy Communion service works then why not come along and see how you feel about it. The type of worship people prefer is a personal thing and only you can tell, whether
you will enjoy the service after trying it out for yourself!
Remember if you don't enjoy it you can always try a different kind of service!
